About
I am a tenured Associate Professor of Economics & Finance at the O’Malley School of Business of Manhattan University, where I hold the Gabriel Hauge Faculty Fellowship and direct the M.Sc. in Financial Analytics, a STEM-designated program.
My research covers a range of topics, from asset pricing and inequality to foreign investment and the economics of AI. What connects them is my interest in when finance and technology deliver gains that are broadly shared, and why the answer often depends on institutions, culture, and economic crises.
Before my doctoral studies, I worked as a research associate at IOBE, Greece’s leading independent economic policy institute. I received my Ph.D. in Economics from the City University of New York, Graduate Center, with concentrations in financial economics and economic development. I also hold an M.Sc. in Applied Economics & Finance from the Athens University of Economics and Business and a B.A. in Economics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
My legacy website is available at gkoimisis.org.
